Celebrating 50 Years of Service for Westchester’s Older Adults

Interested Vendors: 52nd Annual Salute to Seniors Postponed

The 52nd Annual Salute to Seniors scheduled for Thursday, April 30, 2020, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains has been postponed until future notice.  We will announce when a new date has been determined.

The Salute to Seniors  Expo offers the opportunity to businesses and non-profit organizations to showcase their products, services and information to more than 2,000 seniors and caregivers in Westchester. When the event is rescheduled, a new deadline to exhibit space will also be announced.

Each year Westchester salutes it's seniors with this fun-filled, but informative event. We encourage seniors in our community to bring a friend, family member or caregiver and be prepared to enjoy the day with lunch and browsing the Business Expo, plus other attractions.

Information is available regarding event details and how to reserve space.

This event is sponsored by the Westchester County Department Senior Programs and Services and the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services. It is co-sponsored by Westchester County Departments of Parks, Recreation and Conservation and Public Works and Transportation.

Livable Communities Summit

Why safety and security for seniors are core features of Livable Communities will be highlighted in a program on March 24 at 1 p.m. at the Sarah Neuman Care Center, 845 Palmer Ave., Mamaroneck.

The countywide Livable Communities Summit is hosted by Chief Edward Flynn and the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department. It is free and open to the public but reservations are required. To sign up, contact Sgt. Regan Kelly at (914) 774-2892 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Keynote speaker Mae Carpenter, commissioner of Westchester County’s Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS), will discuss the countywide Livable Communities initiative.

The goal of Livable Communities is to support a good quality of life for people of all ages and enable seniors to remain in their homes as they age with independence, dignity and civic involvement. The initiative is DSPS’ signature project.

Angela Deleon, masters programs manager at People’s United Bank, will discuss financial scams often targeted at the elderly and how seniors can avoid them.

The summit will also bring together first-responders including representatives from law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services. Michael Liverzani, Mamaroneck’s ambulance district administrator, will discuss emergency response teams and how seniors can be part of this important community service.

Representatives from Con Edison and Verizon will be present to discuss their services to benefit seniors.

Volunteers with the East Central Livable Communities Connection at Family Services of Westchester are especially encouraged to attend this event.

The program is made possible by People’s United Bank and the Jewish Home Lifecare/Sarah Neuman Center. The Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services, DSPS and its Livable Community initiative and the Mamaroneck Village Police Department are also sponsors.
