The Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services takes pride in providing cutting-edge leadership to improve the quality of life for older persons - not only at home but as a role model around the country. In the process, the county has won many awards for its programs for seniors.

| County's Livable Communities Initiative Wins Two International Awards in 2010 | |
| DSPS’ Livable Communities initiative won two International Liveable Communities Awards in the United Nations-endorsed worldwide competition in areas that promote best practices in livable communities such as sustaining communities, promoting healthy lifestyles and planning for the future. The department won these awards in partnership with AARP of New York and the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services. | |
