poinsettias and starsDo you know a senior who is making a positive difference in Westchester County through his or her professional life, volunteer work or both?  If so, Westchester County Executive George Latimer invites you to submit a nomination to the Westchester Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, now in its 38th year.

“The Senior Hall of Fame is a special tradition honoring seniors who give their time and energy to improve the quality of life in our community,” Latimer said. “Don’t miss this great opportunity to shine a light on seniors who merit special recognition for their contributions.”

Deadline Oct. 16, 2020
Nominations deadline is Oct. 16. Nominations may be submitted using the online 2020 nomination form or by downloading and completing, as instructed, the printable form. If you decide to mail the form using the US Postal Service, it must be postmarked by Oct. 16 and sent to:

Westchester County Senior Hall of Fame
Attn: Myrna Merchant
9 South First Avenue, 10th Floor
Mt. Vernon, NY 10550

To be nominated, a person must:

All nominations will be reviewed by a judging committee of past Senior Hall of Fame honorees, members from DSPS’s Aging Network, the county’s Senior Council and the Older Americans Act Advisory Council.

DSPS Commissioner Mae Carpenter said that the Seniors Hall of Fame is an important tradition because the senior community has helped Westchester to become known for its quality of life. “Today’s older generation molded a way of life that reflects the caring and generosity of its people,” she said.

Those selected will be inducted into the Senior Hall of Fame during a multi-platform virtual event on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020. You will be invited to view this event for free from our website, Facebook and YouTube.

The Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services, Westchester County Parks and the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services are hosting the event.
