Tele-Care Conferences for Caregivers
Westchester County’s Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS) has scheduled two free Livable Communities Tele-Care Conferences for Caregivers on how family caregivers can handle health care costs for their loved ones on May 10.
Nancy Tagliafierro, an attorney with Keane & Beane in White Plains, will lead the program on “Navigating Health Care Costs for Seniors –The Legal Issues.” The one-hour interactive calls will take place at noon and at 7 p.m. Caregivers can take part by calling in from the comfort of their homes.
The teleconferences are a project of DSPS’ Caregiver Coalition. Topics will include an overview of Medicare coverage and how to use Medicaid to manage home care costs and skilled nursing care. How to maximize income and preserve assets with Medicaid eligibility will also be discussed.
The two sessions were planned to be in the teleconference format because the many responsibilities caregivers face can often make it difficult for them to leave their homes.
Early registration is advised because each teleconference can only accommodate 15 caregivers. To sign up, contact Colette Phipps at (914) 813-6441 or e-mail
