From the County Executive
Hello, and welcome to our 17th annual Senior Law Day –
one of
Westchester County’s marquee programs.
The fact that Senior Law Day has taken place for 17 years –
and continues to get better each ti
me – is a testament to the
relevance of this i
mportant event.
We designed this day just for you, so enjoy and
learn as much as you can.
Today you have a choice of workshops on topics that range from health care planning
to managing your finances, all led by some of the county’s top elder law attorneys,
certified financial planners, geriatric care managers and long-term care insurance
specialists. Equally i
mportant, you’ll be able to benefit from a one-on-one consultation
to discuss your specific situation with an expert. Best of all, everything is free.
Your presence here today shows that you realize the i
mportance of planning ahead
and being informed. Education matters, and that is what Senior Law Day is all about.
But it is also i
mportant to follow that up with the next crucial step: put your plan into
action.
I
want to thank the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services and the
Ninth Judicial
District of the New York State Office of Court Administration for joining
with the county to present Senior Law Day.
I also want to thank all the professionals who generously volunteer their time and
knowledge year after year to benefit seniors and their families. In addition, I commend
the private sponsors of today’s program for helping to make it possible. The receipt of
a grant from The Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation has made the recent program
expansion to Yorktown possible. Senior Law Day is community spirit at its finest, and I
congratulate you all.
Have a wonderful day.
