Elderserve to Present Program on Finances in Tough Economic Times

“Sink or Swim in Tough Economic Times,” a free financial seminar for seniors and caregivers, will take place on April 26 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Atria Woodlands, 1017 Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley.

Sponsors are the Mid Central Livable Communities Connection site, which is a program of   Westchester County’s Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS), and ElderServe’s Advisory Committee and Leadership Group, which deals with Alzheimer’s disease and related issues.

The keynote presentation on “Making Ends Meet and Choosing Your Path” will be presented by Elizabeth Maitland and Susan Cermele from the New York Life Insurance Co.

William Nugent from MetLife will present a workshop on “Reverse Mortgage Basics: Dispelling the Myths.” David Parker, Esq., will lead a workshop on estate planning and other elder law issues such as power of attorney and trusts.

Participants will also have the opportunity to complete DSPS’ Elder Economic Index Survey, which examines the economic security of older adults by determining if they have enough income to pay for their basic needs of food, housing, transportation and health care insurance without subsidies.
