Dr. Adolph Soto, a psychiatrist at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Harrison, will speak about how seniors can be pro-active with their mental well-being. Dr. Mauricio Valdés, a nephrologist at the Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, will discuss the causes of renal conditions and how to prevent them.

Attorneys, certified financial planners and care managers will lead workshops on elder law issues such as wills vs. trusts, estate planning, planning for the care of a loved one and the nuts and bolts of financial planning. In addition, the workshop leaders offer free, one-on-one, 15-minute consultations. Registration starts after Labor Day.

The Journey of Caregiving Conference

A conference to address the emotional and physical challenges caregivers face. Guest speaker: The Rev. Viviana DeCohen, a hands-on expert in aging who has worked in various areas of health and home care and senior services with a focus on dementia patients for more than 20 years.  Don’t miss her funny and heart-rending stories about her experiences. Also – pro bono sessions with an elder law attorney, a geriatric social worker and a geriatric care manager. Free admission and on-site parking.
